AAHA Pet Health Library
The AAHA Pet Health Library has an excellent dog and cat care and behavior library as well as some small animal care guides. You can also sign up for their Pets Matter on-line blog which features a different health article each day.

American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
The American Veterinary Medical Association ( AVMA) is a non-profit association that represents more than 86,500 private and corporate practice veterinarians. The AVMA provides informational resources, continuing education opportunities for veterinarians and their staff, client publications, and videos which you will find to be both educational and informative.

The American College of Veterinary Nutrition
The American College of Veterinary Nutrition hosts a wealth of information about veterinary nutrition on their website. A directory of boarded veterinary nutritionists available for consultation is also available.

American Academy of Veterinary Nutrition
The AAVN is an international association of veterinarians, animal nutrition scientists, veterinary technicians, industry representatives, and veterinary and animal science students with a common interest in animal nutrition. Excellent page of links for pet parents under Nutrition Resources covering topics such as obesity and information for people considering bringing a pet home.

Cummings Veterinary Medical Center at Tufts University Petfoodology
Excellent articles regarding pet nutrition by veterinary nutrition specialists and experts.

The Veterinary Cancer Society
Information is for dogs and cats who have been diagnosed with cancer. Excellent “Frequently Asked Questions” section. This non-profit organization will help you find treatment options for your pet that may exist in our community or through the use of clinical trials.

Colorado State University Flint Animal Cancer Center
“Treatment Options” page clearly explains the various methods that may be used to treat your dog or cat’s cancer. Excellent National Support Hotlines and Resources links.

The Veterinary Information Network
An excellent resource that answers questions about animal health, medications, therapies, surgery, behavior, and safety. This site provides reliable, up-to-date animal health information from the veterinarians and experts from the world’s first and largest online veterinary database and community.

Association of Avian Veterinarians
Under “Resources”, the Basic Pet Bird Care and Health Exam pages are excellent.

World Parrot Trust
Articles on behavior and training, conservation, health and nutrition and toys and enrichment. Podcasts, an encyclopedia and a photo gallery that you can search through type of parrot, common name, geographic location or taxonomic name.

Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC)
Excellent site that helps pet owners with parasite management. The CAPC advocates best practices for protecting pets from parasitic infections and reducing the risk of zoonotic (pet to people) parasite transmission. Broken down by the type of parasites that affect dogs and cats, this site also covers parasites that may affect your family.

American Heartworm Society
Pet Owner Resources features a video library and infographics. Also, a “Just For Kids” section that provides fun work sheets that explain heartworm and its treatment.

American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP)
Excellent cat owners section that focuses on behavior, environmental needs, signs/symptoms of illness, dental care, senior care, parasite prevention, toxins and poisons, and videos.

ASPCA Animal Poison Control
Best resource for any animal poison-related emergency, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you think your pet may have ingested a potentially poisonous substance, call (888) 426-4435. A $65 consultation fee may be applied to your credit card. Can find podcasts and articles dealing with plants, human foods, and human medications that may cause harm to your pet.

US Food and Drug Administration Consumer Updates
The FDA regulates the food, food additives, drugs and vaccines given to animals, including both our pets and the animals raised for human consumption. Great, up-to-date articles on subjects ranging from heartworm prevention to nutrition.

Cornell Feline Health Center
Dedicated to improving the welfare of all cats by supporting research on diseases and conditions that affect cats and by providing information to owners, breeders, and veterinary professionals worldwide. Topics covered include behavior, feeding vaccines, infectious diseases, health hazards, and medications.

The Ohio State University Indoor Pet Initiative
Information and tools needed to promote healthy lifestyles and environment for cat and dog owners. Also pages on behavior, training and aging.

Morris Animal Foundation
Excellent dog and cat health info center plus pages for people who need financial, emotional or medical advice.

This website contains numerous articles pertaining to nearly every aspect of rabbit care, behavior and health.
