Case Four: Broken Forearm in a Dog

2007_0202julyaugcotrail0006

This dog fell down the last three steps and has broken his forearm. This is a radius and ulna fracture. This type of break has difficulty healing without excellent stabilization. Most surgeons prefer plate repair for the best recovery. Except for larger animals, only plating the radius is the norm. It is the major weight bearing bone here and if it is stable to heal the ulna heals on its own.

This shows the radius and ulna fracture after the plate is applied and after healing is complete.
