Basset Hound

This 3 year old basset hound belongs to Dr Fisher's daughter. He couldn't convince his own daughter that twice weekly teeth brushing will prevent plaque and tartar buildup!!

Tartar on teeth

The mouth of this 3 year old basset hound shows significant tartar. She has not been brushing her dog's teeth. For shame ……she hasn't practiced what dad preaches. It is not uncommon for young dogs to develop tartar that needs to be addressed with a dental cleaning at an early age.

Cleaned dog teeth

Post cleaning: this mouth has cleaned up nicely. Early dental cleaning will help deter the gum and periodontal disease that can occur with time. Since his daughter is at college Dr Fisher is taking care of her dog. He promises he will be better about twice weekly brushing with Oravet®, a dental paste that is designed to decrease the rate at which plaque and tartar develop.
